The War of Shadows and Sorcery: A 4EverMore Legend

Long before the gemstone castles of 4EverMore shimmered beneath the eternal moonlight, before the Day Walkers claimed dominion over the balance of power, there was a war so devastating, so drenched in magic and steel, that even the immortals feared its memory. This was the War of Shadows and Sorcery—the battle between the Warlocks and the Warlords.

The Catalyst of Chaos

The war began as all great wars do—with a betrayal.

Legend tells of a Warlock of immense power, Maelthorin the Veilborn, who sought dominion over the sacred Grimoires of Eternus—ancient tomes rumored to hold the knowledge of time itself. He struck a forbidden bargain with the Warlord of the Obsidian Keep, Lord Dragor Vex, a man whose blade drank the essence of his enemies and whose army was said to be forged in the pits of the underworld. Together, they would unlock the secrets of eternity, bending time and fate to their will.

But treachery is the currency of the ambitious.

The pact shattered when Dragor Vex, fearing that no mortal—nor immortal—should wield such power, turned against Maelthorin, leading his warlords in a brutal ambush against the Warlocks of the Arcane Circle. What was meant to be a union of supremacy became an all-consuming war, one that threatened to unmake the very fabric of 4EverMore.

The War Unleashed

The skies burned as the Warlocks summoned storms of midnight fire, their incantations unraveling reality itself. The Warlords, clad in enchanted armor, marched through the chaos, their cursed blades severing magic from flesh. Entire cities fell into shadow as both factions sought dominion over the Grimoires, each side believing that control of such power would grant them ultimate victory.

The Red Witches of Stregheria, the Enchanted Forest’s Green Witches, and the fierce Witches of Westbrook were forced to take sides. Some sought to end the war, while others saw an opportunity to reshape the world. The Cryptic Chronicle, the only written record that survived from that era, speaks of entire armies vanishing in the night, of phantom Warlocks rising again after death, and of Warlords whose weapons could drink the very souls of their foes.

The Fall of Maelthorin and Dragor Vex

The war raged for centuries, neither side willing to yield. But power has a way of consuming even the mightiest.

On the Night of the Black Eclipse, the two leaders met in the ruins of Ebonhold, the once-great citadel now a cursed battlefield. Maelthorin, wielding the full force of the Grimoires, and Dragor Vex, standing as the last unbroken Warlord, clashed in a battle so fierce that the very stars trembled.

In the end, neither emerged victorious.

The Grimoires turned against Maelthorin, sealing him within a prison of his own making—his soul bound to the Void, his name whispered only in fear. Dragor Vex, fatally wounded and betrayed by his own kin, vanished into legend, his cursed blade lost to time.

The Aftermath and the Eternal Oath

The war left scars upon 4EverMore that have never fully healed. The Warlocks, forever distrusted, retreated into the shadows, their power unchecked but their ambitions hidden. The Warlords, scattered and broken, became myths, their once-great legacies reduced to whispered tales in forgotten halls.

Yet, the legend remains.

It is said that the Grimoires of Eternus still exist, waiting for those foolish—or bold—enough to seek them. And there are whispers that Dragor Vex’s blade, the Soulrend, still calls to the last of his bloodline, waiting for the war to begin anew.

For in 4EverMore, nothing truly ends. It simply waits... in the shadows.
