The Sirens Secret of the Moonlit Lagoon Short Story Bloodthorn Publishing

The Siren's Secret of the Moonlit Lagoon

There exists, deep in the heart of 4EverMore, a lagoon so still it mirrors the night sky. It is known as the Moonlit Lagoon, and there, the waters are said to sing—soft melodies that tug at the soul and stir the very stars. The sirens who call it home are not the vile creatures some tales suggest, but instead, elegant beings who possess the rare gift of binding fate to music.

Their voices, smooth as velvet, can call the rain to stop or summon the dawn to hold its sleep. They are the keepers of forgotten songs, each note a thread in the tapestry of destiny itself. But there is a secret, hidden in the depths of the Lagoon, whispered only by those fortunate (or foolish) enough to have ventured into its waters.

For, you see, there is one particular song—a song so old, so powerful, that it can rewrite time itself. If sung under the perfect alignment of stars, it can erase any memory, change the past, or forge a new future altogether.

But such power comes at a price.

For every note sung, a story is lost. A legend forgotten. And if the song ever reaches its end, all that was once known will cease to be. The sirens are tasked with guarding it, singing just enough to keep it alive, but never finishing the melody.

One traveler, however, a curious immortal with eyes like burning amber, managed to hear the song and, drawn by its beauty, asked the siren for its completion. "Why does it not end?" the immortal had asked.

The siren's answer? "Because to finish it, would be to forget everything. And some tales, some songs, are better left unfinished."

The immortal, for once, understood. They turned and walked away from the Lagoon, leaving behind only the echoes of a melody that would never end until someone else would wander too close, only to hear the song once more, and never return.

Well, now that this story has been told remember, not all legends in 4EverMore are woven from despair. Some are threads of wonder, mystery, and endless, beautiful eternity. Just another piece of my realm, waiting for the next curious soul to come and hear the rest.
